Barclays Center Impact Zone Alliance meeting Monday; aims to better monitor impacts of arena/project

The Barclays Center Impact Zone Alliance, which formed last year in response to the city's bid for the 2016 Democratic National Convention and has periodically issued statements, is organizing to better monitor the impacts of the arena and the emerging Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park project.

It's holding a meeting Monday to gather input. The letter:
Dear Neighbor,
Like us, you live or work in the impact zone of Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park and Barclays Center. Our quality of life is dramatically affected by this megaproject, for which Governor Cuomo, New York State, and the developer Greenland Forest City Partners have special commitments. How do you think the developer and State are doing? Come to this meeting to get an update on the project and share any thoughts or concerns you have.

TIME: Monday, November 9th from 7 PM to 8 PM
PLACE: McMahon's Public House, 39 5th Avenue, 2nd floor
We have ideas and we are certain that you do, too. Whether you have been in the community a long time or you are new to the neighborhood, let's discuss what we can achieve working together.
MEETING SPONSORS: Barclays Center Impact Zone Alliance is a coalition formed to advocate for the health, safety and vitality of the area in the vicinity of Barclays Center and the Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park development. The coalition includes the Atlantic Terrace Outreach Committee, Carlton Avenue Association, Dean Street Block Association 6th Avenue to Vanderbilt, East-Pacific Block Association, North Flatbush Business Improvement District, Pacific Street Brooklyn Bears Community Garden, 78th Precinct Community Council, as well as local individuals and businesses.
I asked for an elaboration, and got the following statement:
"As residents, businesses, and local civic organizations that care passionately about our community, we always look for ways to work together to make our neighborhood healthier, safer and more vital. Our growing coalition's members have long, varied and successful records across a wide range of concerns from creating thriving local retail to pedestrian safety to open space. Part of that effort includes working with City agencies, the State, and the developer on the new elements introduced to our neighborhood as part of the implementation and operation of Atlantic Yards/Pacific Park and Barclays Center. Our goal in putting together this first public meeting of our coalition is to share ideas about ways the project can be monitored and improved, while minimizing the impact of construction that was originally anticipated to take ten years and is now likely to take at least twenty."
