Mayor's office imposes six-month moratorium on filming in Prospect Heights; was request from both CB and new alliance

From the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council yesterday, Mayor's office issues moratorium on location filming in Prospect Heights:
Due to the efforts of Community Board 8 relaying numerous community complaints regarding excessive filming in Prospect Heights, the Mayor's Office of Film, Theater, and Broadcasting has agreed to impose a moratorium on filming in Prospect Heights for the next six months. The moratorium will be effective beginning February 1, 2015, but will not include projects that are already contracted.
The moratorium will be in effect from Flatbush to Washington Avenue between Dean Street and Sterling Place.
The FX Network series The Americans is under contract for a recurring location that will continued to be honored. Their primary filming location is Carlton Avenue. The Mayor's Office of Film, Theater, and Broadcasting has agreed to limit the show's parking in the affected area to help ease the burden to residents.
I'd note the new Barclays Center Impact Zone Alliance also asked for a moratorium on film shoots while expressing concern about the impacts of the Democratic National Convention, should it come to Brooklyn.

So the de Blasio administration's agreement on a moratorium both represents responsiveness as well as savvy politics, given the desire to portray Brooklyn as welcoming--or at least not opposing--the convention.
