It looks like Hillary Clinton will base her campaign at MetroTech (and that's good news for Forest City and BdB)

CNN reported yesterday, in Hillary Clinton set on Brooklyn HQ, eyes April launch:
As Hillary Clinton's expected April presidential launch nears, her already sizable campaign apparatus is moving into place and getting close to signing a lease for office space in Brooklyn.
Clinton and her team have recently coalesced around the New York borough, according to multiple sources, and are nearing a deal for office space at the MetroTech complex in Brooklyn.
The announcement should come in April. CNN reports:
Clinton supporters see a number of benefits in Brooklyn, including ease of attracting talent to the New York area and the fact that it's known for ethnic and socio-economic diversity.
On the downside, some Clinton supporters have expressed concern with being closely associated with New York City, and in particular Wall Street, which is only two subway stops away.
The campaign headquarters also creates a logistical challenge for staffers in a city of high rents. The campaign is asking supporters in New York if anyone who can open their doors and take in young workers.
Um, it's not like MetroTech is "known for ethnic and socio-economic diversity." But apparently a Brooklyn zip code adds that special pixie dust?

The New York Times confirmed the MetroTech in "Brooklyn Heights" (nah, Downtown Brooklyn) was the leader, after a Long Island City option fell through.

The coverage so far, as noted above, analyzes the optics challenge regarding "Brooklyn" as well as the need to house staffer.

Surely the coverage will eventually point out that office space has become available at MetroTech because some large corporate employers that were mainstays have been downsizing.

Though it's not clear if Clinton would be subleasing from an existing tenant or leasing from landlord Forest City Ratner, either way that has to be good news for Forest City, which likes to maintain good relationships with elected officials. That triangulates through Mayor Bill de Blasio, I suspect, who has to be happy that his home borough--and a campaign backer--might snag the campaign HQ.
