Barclays Center releases October event calendar; Nets games, concerts, Sensation; hockey game Saturday expected to draw 9-10,000 fans

I noted Sept. 3 that the Barclay Center hadn't released its September event calendar, which not only lists events but also expected attendance. The arena did so later in the week, and--this time on schedule--just released the October event calendar.

The October calendar

Notable is that while last year the arena expected 18,000 for initial Nets pre-season games--capacity is actually 17,732--they're now expecting 15,000, which is only a little lower than last season's average gate count. (More than 17,000 tickets were distributed per game, but each game had about 10% no-shows.)

Also note that, while the Oct. 26 Sensation show is only expected to draw 12,000, that's a very late (and loud concert) of EDM (electronic dance music). Last October Sensation pounded bass into  neighbors' homes, but escaped a fine.

The September calendar

Note that the concert this Thursday from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, which is a big Brooklyn band, is only expected to draw 6,000. I bet if they lowered the price--tickets start at $29.50 + $8.20 fees = $37.70--they'd draw more.

Also note that the first hockey game, with the New York Islanders facing the New Jersey Devils this Saturday, is expected to draw 9,000 fans. Or, perhaps, more.

NHL.com reported 9/12/13 that the game had sold "more than 10,000 tickets," while the Times reported the same day that arena CEO Brett Yormark claimed "about 10,000." I'd bet that "about 10,000" means "less than 10,000." But probably more than 9,000.
